The focus of this mini-retreat will be on strengthening our connection to our open spaces and wilderness in light of increasing use and demands on the Deschutes River, the Deschutes National Forest, the Cascade Lakes, and the High Desert. As part of this, we will practice mind-body techniques that will help you observe nature more fully, become more emotionally engaged with your surroundings, become more present cognitively to what is around you, and connect more effectively with your own true nature. There will also be opportunities to socialize with other attendees and create an ongoing practice of cultivating nature close to home and within the region.
All sessions will be held in the afternoons from 1:30 to 3:30. The location will be announced closer to the date, but is anticipated to be outside (alternative arrangements will be made in case of inclement weather).
The mini-retreat is free but requires advance registration. Please click on the link below to register. You will also be asked to sign a waiver form in order to attend any in-person event.
This is a fragrance-free event; this includes what you use on your clothes as well as your body. We want to fully experience nature, including its natural scents and the smell and benefits of clean air, water, soil, etc.
What to bring:
— Warm layers
— Stainless steel water bottle
— Healthy snacks (be prepared to pack out any trash)
— Anything else you need to stay comfortable for a couple of hours outdoors
