About
Welcome! My name is Joanna Malaczynski-Moore.
I am an author, which means that I am somewhere between an artist and an advocate.
A couple of decades ago I made a commitment to myself that I wanted to prioritize happiness in my life, and I also wanted to make a positive difference in the world. The latter became a very challenging endeavor and undermined my sense of the former for a long time.
Some twenty years later, I’ve come to the conclusion that in order to be happy and to make a positive difference in the world, we need the same thing: a shift in perspective within our physiology. This led me to mind-body practices, including those taught by ancient traditions and those adopted by modern practitioners.
I came to mind-body practices as a result of a number of challenging experiences in my life — divorce, career transition, professional challenges, health challenges, etc.
These situations forced me to slow down, digest what I had experienced, and take a good look at myself and the world around me. While there was much I wanted to change in the outside world, I came to realize that the easiest thing I could change was myself.
That became the blueprint for designing my life.
With this purpose in mind, I began to examine my own thoughts, beliefs, emotions, and actions. And to better understand what is going on in my own body.
Mind-body practices became my primary tool for this. I have used them to support my wellbeing, improve my response to challenging situations, and help me enjoy life.
